About the Department
Our SSE Finance function has a key part to play in fulfilling SSEs obligations as a UK-listed company, providing expertise and services that can be shared across the SSE Group, and working in partnership with all businesses to provide services tailored to their specific needs. What is the Role?
We are recruiting for a Treasury Payments Clerk to join our team on a 24-month fixed term contract. Reporting to the Treasury Cash Manager you will be responsible for all payments made via the Treasury function including but not limited to Treasury Payments, Energy Payments, Joint Venture Payments and Currency Payments.
You will be responsible for processing daily, weekly and ad-hoc payment runs and ensuring all banking authorisations are completed in various online banking platforms ahead of deadlines. You will be accountable for escalating any payment issues both internally and externally when they arise.
You will support the senior Treasury Team to build strong relationships across all of SSE 7 to ensure all payment services requests are fulfilled; this will include query resolution and providing support to the businesses, investigating and managing discrepancies through to resolution and managing the Treasury Team inbox.
In addition to the above you will support the wider Treasury Team, by actively seeking ways of improving process efficiency & adhere to Company policies and procedures in accordance with company compliance. Delivering against set targets that contribute to the wider Service Level Agreements & providing excellent customer service for query resolution and telephone support.
What do I need?
Previous experience working within a complex and challenging payments function is desirable but not essential, with knowledge of dealing with BACs, CHAPs, international payments and foreign currency transactions along with an awareness of principles, practices, regulations and procedures relating to payments.
Excellent customer service skills and able to contribute positively to the overall direction of the Treasury function
Strong written and verbal communication skills along with numerate & problem-solving skills & strong attention to detail & excellent organisational & time management skills.
Risk awareness and ability to mitigate risk & proficient in all MS Office tools, particularly Excel
