Our SSE Finance function has a key part to play in fulfilling SSE's obligations as a UK-listed company, providing expertise and services that can be shared across the SSE Group, and working in partnership with all businesses to provide services tailored to their specific needs. What is the Role?
The Treasury team within SSE plc are responsible for the raising and management of debt in excess of £9.4bn, short term surplus cash management, interest rate risk management and foreign exchange risk management. Additionally, the Treasury function arranges and manages operational banking services to support the requirements of the SSE 7 and a number of JV's.
The Treasury Analyst (JV and Reporting) will report to the Assistant Treasurer and will be responsible for the day to day cash management process for the various JV's that SSE provide Treasury services to, which includes calculating and reporting daily cash positions, managing daily surplus cash positions to optimise returns on available surplus cash, cashflow forecasting and payments.
This role will also support the senior Treasury team in building strong relationships with the senior management and Finance teams of the relevant JV's while managing the key operational banking relationships on behalf of the JV's.
You will also be responsible for the development and preparation of various daily, weekly and monthly reports that will support the senior Treasury team in providing a high-quality service to the SSE7. This will include reports that will help all areas of the Treasury function in delivering a pro-active service to the SSE7.
In addition to the above you will liaise with Business Partners and Finance Managers on a regular basis to provide updates and advice on each JV's cash positions. You will also interact with Business Partners and Finance Managers and various other areas of the business in respect to the cash management and accounting reports you will be responsible for preparing. There is also regular interaction with Group Finance on reporting requirements while there is also a requirement to communicate with external banks and auditors.
What do I need?
- Part qualified Accountant or someone with significant cash management experience in a Treasury function.
- Ability to work on own while delivering to tight deadlines.
- Strong reporting skills
- Strong IT skills to ensure high quality reports
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent organisational skills.
- The ability to apply professional judgement and experience when making important cash management decisions and providing advice
- Good knowledge of core financial systems and general accounting procedures
- Adaptive to changing objectives and priorities to deliver timely and accurate results
- Focused on creating value for the SSE Group
Functional and Technical Skills
- Proficient in MS Office applications (particularly excel)
- Degree-level education or equivalent
- Knowledge of SSE equivalent systems, processes and workflow technology
- In depth knowledge of ERP software (Oracle desirable)
