The purpose of the Route to Market (RTM) team is to procure energy from the wholesale energy markets. The Trading Team within RTM is responsible for managing the Commercial Operations, Market Trading and Energy Option Contracts to provide a route to market for SSE Energy Services.
The Trading team will be SSE Energy Services route to market to identify and execute trading opportunities. The role of the Trading Analyst is to work with the Front, Middle and Back Office to value contracts, establish trading positions, perform risk analysis, execute and settle trades.
As Trading Analyst you'll be responsible for building pricing models, operating the trading systems, producing risk and profit reports and providing analysis to enhance value whilst minimising risk.
Your Skills and Experience
The ideal candidate for this role will have a proven trading or analytical experience ideally in the energy market. In addition, you will have a strong record academically in an analytical field such as a degree in mathematics, economics, engineering or finance. You'll also be comfortable using the MS Office suite of applications.
You'll be highly analytical and numerate with the ability to present your analysis with precision in a compelling way to influence stakeholders up to senior management and to ultimately influence trading decisions. This will require you to be comfortable managing a portfolio, generating trading ideas and creating trading proposals.
In this role there will be challenges and times of change, so you'll need resilience and enthusiasm to sometimes work under pressure. There will also need to be an element of flexibility to work the core hours of the UK Energy Markets and provide trading desk coverage as and when required.
