Our Role
The 24/7 NOC Shift Engineer will work within the Enterprise Telecoms division where the company provides commercial security with unrivalled in-house engineering resource to Service Providers, Large Enterprises and the Public Sector providing a competitive range of leading-edge Ethernet, Cloud Connect, Optical Networking and Co-location services.
As the NOC Shift Engineer, your responsibility is to ensure that the network is monitored, and all alarms are diagnosed and dealt with in a timely manner. They will also ensure that customer faults are investigated, and the relevant engineers are engaged to resolve the issue, and that customers and management receive regular status updates.
Your Skills and Experience
You will be experienced in diagnosing faults, fault resolution and will be responsible for ensuring faults are resolved within SLA. Strong communication skills are critical to ensure that customer expectations are managed. You should also have a high degree of confidence in working to your own initiative and possess exceptional time management and organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and coordinate tasks.
A fantastic team ethic is required to ensure the workload is managed effectively and SLAs are met. You should also have a high level of understanding of ticket management including raising and updating tickets, through to creating and running reports is also important.
Demonstrable experience in the following technologies within a Network Operations Centre are required to perform this role:
- Experienced in all aspects of networking L1-L3
- Working knowledge of LAN WAN MPLS, OSPF, BGP & DNS
- Wide knowledge of Cisco networks, routers and switches
- Working knowledge of the 7750 SR product family and the 7210 SAS SX whilst using NSP including NFM-P (5620 SAM)
It would also be advantageous but not essential if you had experience of:
- SDH (Turin, Nokia) & DWDM (Ciena, Infinera, Sorento)
- Experience in site event management (Access/ Mains Power /UPS /Generator /Air Con / Security)
- Nokia NRS, MEF and Cisco qualifications
