About the Department
SSE Enterprise comprises three companies: Contracting, Telecoms and Distributed Energy. SSE Enterprise Utilities is part of the Distributed Energy business of SSE plc. Distributed Energy offers a full range of services which contribute to the development of smart cities and smart places, in both public and private sectors. We finance, own, operate and maintain a broad portfolio, from electrical vehicle (EV) infrastructure, to distributed energy systems including renewable and low-carbon generation, energy storage and heat networks as well as building owning and adopting private HV networks. This involves providing customers with energy optimisation solutions through intelligent systems and offering platforms and connectivity to enable smart energy infrastructure and demand management services.
What is the Role?
The Technical Support Manager will work closely with the Network Manager to assist in the day to day management of the O&M networks function also to support the Technical Audit & Standards team where you will approve the contractors and UIPs accreditations including the individual SCO qualifications of the teams that are working on our network.
You will liaise with the GDNs for our emergency cover and manage our emergency response procedure. As Technical Support manager, you will look after our PRI & PSSR maintenance programme with our framework contractors to ensure that the contract is fully carried out in accordance with our framework agreement. You will provide monthly reports to the Network Manager and be responsible for all asset records being up to date and available.
What do I need?
To be considered for the role, you will require a strong knowledge of the following: Relevant Gas Industry Legislation and Regulations Relevant Institute of Gas Engineers Main Laying and Service Laying Standards (TD/3 and TD/4)# IGEM/G/5 (Gas in Flats)
Ideally you will have a recognised HS& E qualification SCO trained NRSWA accreditation.
You will have the ability to display an understanding of current Gas industry connection activities and will preferably be a member of the Institute of Gas Engineers and Managers as an Engineering Technician or above.
Good communication skills are essential, and you should be competent in the use of Microsoft office.
As this is a field based role, you will need to have a full current UK driving license.
