About the Department
The Enterprise Division comprises four companies: Contracting, Rail, Telecoms and Utilities. The SSE Enterprise Projects and Operational Support Team support the entire Enterprise division leading the deployment of best practice in assurance, project management, engineering and in handling strategic projects.
SSE Enterprise Telecoms operates a 13,700km private telecoms network, with 265 Points of Presence and connectivity to over 80 commercial data centres that span the UK. With its extensive telecoms engineering experience, the company provides commercial security with unrivalled in-house engineering resource to Service Providers, Large Enterprises and the Public Sector providing a competitive range of leading-edge Ethernet, Cloud Connect, Optical Networking and Co-location services.
What is the Role?
Our Telecoms division is currently recruiting for a Technical Pre-Sales Consultant to support the technical element of solution sales within SSE Enterprise Telecoms, supporting sales productivity and targets by leading on the technical elements in fibre infrastructure and connectivity solution designs.
Collaborating proactively with Sales and Engineering departments, you will ensure proposals include cost effective network solutions that accurately address customer needs. You will comply with and actively embrace the SSE approach to health and safety guidelines.
Your responsibilities will extend to ensuring optimal cost input on all network designs and securing input from all necessary solution stakeholders, internally and externally, including managing supplier responses to agreed timescales. You will maintain an excellent working knowledge of SSE Enterprise Telecoms product and services and ensure product knowledge is kept up to date via collaboration and networking.
What do I need?
To be successful in this role, you should have a proven track record in a Technical Pre-Sales role and/or Access Fibre/Network planning role.
An in-depth working knowledge of fibre access deployments would be beneficial, including civils, duct and fibre infrastructure deployments, including FTTC, FTTP and Openreach Physical Infrastructure Access (PIA/DPA) options. And/or an excellent working knowledge of current technologies from layer 0 (fibre), layer 1 (Optical), layer 2 (Ethernet), layer 3 (managed services), layer4-7 (Unified Comms and Cloud based services)
You will be a customer focused individual with positive influencing skills which you can articulate in both written and verbal communication. Demonstrable experience of multi-tasking in a deadline driven environment and the ability to remain calm under pressure is essential to carrying out this role successfully.
