What is the Role

The Thermal Embedded Group is a business unit within SSE Thermal focusing on the Burghfield and Chickerell sites. The business operates and maintains two 45MWe LM6000 Open Cycle Gas Turbines and now has an opportunity for a Support Engineer to be based at either our Burghfield Site near Reading or Chickerell Site near Weymouth.

The sites operate within the UK Energy markets; therefore, you will be key to the sites meeting very challenging targets for start reliability, plant availability, efficiency and financial delivery. This role will also be crucial across both sites concerning robust analytical assessment, championing improvements in asset performance and maintenance optimisation, along with managing and delivering planned site outages to time & budget.

What do I need?

To be successful in the role, you must be flexible, committed, capable of working to the highest standards and be able to manage routine & project tasks as well as key contracts. You'll be accountable for ensuring compliance with group, corporate and statutory, safety and environmental guidelines, whilst championing a pro-active safety culture.

You should hold an HNC/HND qualification in a relevant engineering discipline, with demonstrable competence in maintaining Thermal Generation plant.

In addition, we are also looking for you to possess the following qualities;

-The ability to develop reports, procedures and instructions.

-Knowledge and/or authorised in a Safe Systems of Work process. Training will be required to fulfil the requirements of this role.

-The ability to manage and undertake hands on operational and maintenance activities.

-Excellent communication skills

-Ability to work unsupervised under time, financial and operational constraints
