My client is looking for an experienced Supply Chain Manager to join the Supply chain department of a manufacturing / assembly plant that has around 60,000 components on its books with around 25,000 live at any one time. These are spread over around 600 suppliers.
This arm of the business designs, engineers and manufactures measurement equipment for the utilities industry.The main products are Flow meters for the Water and Gas sector. These are assembled and in some cases made on site with some of the components being bought in from suppliers.
The Supply Chain Managers role is to support the overall team made up of various disciplines from Buyers to supplier development specialists etc. You will need to have good experience within a similar role with multiple reports. You will need to be a hands on manager who is confident in their experience and not afraid to implement change.
The team is very strong commercially but need leadership in regards to being more customer focused.
The role is site based but will involve some travel at times. The estimated split will be around 80% site based and 20% spent with suppliers.
You will need a strong background in a Supply chain role role within a high volume manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities will include :
You will be working with the supply chain to improve their practises
Lead key commercial negotiations with suppliers, including terms of payment.
You will need a great attention to detail
Developing the team in the UK, ensuring that key skills and competencies are in place to meet the developing needs of the business.
Excellent man management skills
The role will involve the coordination of all Supply Chain activities leading to successful sustained and substantial growth.
You will need knowledge of the operational processes within the suppliers.
Quality projects ( supporting quality management projects and initiatives as and when required.
Interface with other business functions. Opex / HSE / R&D etc .
Participate in HUB management and reporting and the main function is to provide leadership to the existing team and help support continued growth
Experience in a leading a Supply Chain team.
Degree or equivalent in a related field. (Business / Supply Chain / Engineering)
Strong attention to detail and problem solving skills.
Strong negotiation skills
c.£60,000k starting salary
