Salary: Up to £49,000 depending on skills and experience + car/cash allowance + annual bonus
Working Pattern: Permanent |Full Time Hours with flexible working patterns available |37 hours per week
Provide technical Substation-Electrical support across multiple projects including:
- Creating outline scheme designs and SLD's
- Developing scope and specifications for new build substations as well as modification to existing substations and electrical systems
- Reviewing contractors/consultants detailed designs
- Witnessing FAT
- Supporting field teams to ensure quality of installations
- Evaluate contractors tenders and scope, procure and manage specialist services from consultants.
Your Skills and Experience
The ideal candidate for this role will be degree qualified in electrical engineering, or other relevant engineering discipline, and ideally be a Chartered Engineer in a relevant institution or working towards chartered status. You will have demonstrable experience in transmission development / design / specification and be comfortable to technically assess issues and/or problems and critically assess a range of technical solutions.
An excellent technical understanding of relevant legislation, including CDM and ESQCR, and the implications of this for transmission network management is essential.
Effective communication skills are essential, and you must be able to communicate often complex technical issues in a clear and concise manner to facilitate decision making by senior management. You will be confident working alongside key stakeholders at all levels both internally and externally with an appetite for building strong, lasting relationships.
At Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN), our skilled teams operate and maintain our electricity distribution and transmission networks, carrying electricity to over 3.7 million homes across the north of Scotland and central southern England.
Transmission operates under licence as Scottish Hydro Electric (SHE) Transmission plc, responsible for the transmission of electricity in the north of Scotland. We own and maintain the 132kV, 275kV and 400kV electricity transmission network in our licence area. Our network comprises of underground cables, overhead wooden poles, steel towers and electricity substations, and it extends over a quarter of the UK land mass across some of its most challenging terrain.
