What is the Role?
You'll be carrying out all aspects of the Lighting Design process for LED Lantern replacements, lighting columns, wall mounted units and lit signs/traffic bollards. To do this you'll take ownership of the design element throughout the entire design and construction process. In addition, you'll undertake on-site survey works for column replacement or new lighting schemes and lantern changes which includes assessing suitable column positions and the preparation of drawings, risk assessments, schedules and associated works.
Ideally based from our Burgess Hill office, you'll predominantly be involved in working on the West Sussex LED Project, while also providing services to Consultants and Private Developers. You'll be expected to undertake design work in other regions across the UK and be responsible for liaising with various clients, customer care, construction, administration teams and members of the public.
What Do I Need?
To be successful in this role, you'll possess a broad understanding of safety and risk awareness including CDM Regulations (Construction, Design & Management) and an extensive knowledge of UK Lighting Design.
You will have a working knowledge of AutoCAD, Lighting Reality, cable calculation software, general office applications and appropriate IT systems as well as an understanding of lighting products on the market with attention to lantern distribution and energy performance. Strong technical knowledge of lighting theory, lighting standards and lighting design techniques are essential, and you should be able to work effectively within a high-pressure environment.
You'll have a keen interest in lighting with CPD (Continual Professional Development) records & ILP membership (Institute of Lighting Professionals). ILP Exterior Lighting Diploma or completion of similar recognised Lighting Design courses would be highly desirable. An understanding of Electricity at Work Regulations and IEE Wiring Regulations as well as working knowledge of Traffic Sign Regulations would be advantageous. You'll also be required to have had previous experience of site surveying.
As an individual you'll have good organisational and relationship building skills with an ability to negotiate effectively. You'll be self-motivated with excellent personal effectiveness and the ability to manage your own workload whilst balancing client requirements. Adaptable, you will be capable of working independently incorporating short notice changes and demands. You should be resilient with a systematic, disciplined and analytical approach to problem solving and have excellent attention to detail.
