Background:

Energy Customer Solutions (ECS) is the face of SSE to our customers in GB and Ireland, providing leading and reliable B2B services as well as leading retail solutions for our B2C customers.

SSE Energy Customer Solutions core business is supplying energy in a reliable and sustainable way to over 500,000 business customers in the UK, ranging from start-ups to large national corporates. Through leveraging the strengths of the SSE Group, ECS is able to support our customers to adopt a sustainable business approach through the provision of renewable energy, energy optimisation services and advice on how to use sustainability to drive business advantage.

We work in partnership with all our customers to ensure that they are maximising the value from their energy contract and are using energy as a value generating asset that can influence better planning, greater cost control, improved working and product environments, reduced carbon footprint, stronger brand equity and more engaged staff.

The Role:

In this role you will have responsibility for ensuring the effective management of strategic and enterprise risk across the business.

Responsibilities will include:

-Perform strategic risk management horizon scanning to assist management decision making and identify risks and opportunities that have the potential to impact on the business.

-Perform the role of Risk Management Subject Matter Expert for the business to ensure risk management is performed in line with procedures and the risk appetite of the business.

-Ensure appropriate Commercial Risk Management procedures are in place.

-Undertake key risk reviews for the Executive Committee and Leadership Teams to provide assurance that risk management is being conducted effectively to enable the achievement of the strategic goals and objectives of the business.

-Lead on the Business Continuity Planning for the business to ensure that the enduring goals of crisis management are met.

-Ensure forecasted financial risks are effectively reported to the Executive Committee.

-Facilitate the implementation of Key Risk Indicator reporting within the business units to enable a more proactive approach to risk management.

-Take a lead role on all DPIA activity, ensuring that data ownership and accountability is understood by all.

The Candidate:

Candidates for this role will require extensive experience in the management of risk in a complex, ambiguous environment and will be able to perform effectively in challenging and changing circumstances.

You will be able to demonstrate an understanding and experience of the Energy sector (or a similar regulated industry) and will have knowledge and awareness of the Regulatory and Legislative obligations applicable to a Customer organisation.

A relevant business degree is required and you will hold a professional qualification in Accounting, Audit and/ or Risk Management. Its important that you have excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to clearly articulate and present strategic content to Senior Management.
