About the Department

Energy Customer Solutions is the face of SSE to our customers in GB and Ireland, providing leading and reliable B2B services as well as leading retail solutions for our B2C customers.

SSE's Business Energy smart metering programme exists to ensure that we can offer and successfully install smart meters to all of our customers. The 'Advanced Meter Rollout (AMR) leg of the programme is established and has been running for a number of years, while the "SMETS2" leg of the programme is delivering a new technical capability and mobilising to contact and install for a new set of customers in 2020.

What is the Role?

The "Demand and Install" team is responsible for ensuring that there is an active, multi-channel, tailored approach to engaging our customers, and generating the "Demand" of booked smart meter install appointments, and that the programme can successfully and efficiently "Install" smart meters for our customers. This team now has an established leadership team and is recruiting junior project managers to manage analysts and support the leads in delivering effective campaign and installs and driving their ongoing improvement.

Key Accountabilities

As we are looking to recruit a number of junior project managers into the programme, the exact accountabilities will vary whether the analyst focuses more on "Demand" or "Install". These preferences and suitabilitys will be discussed during the interview stage. Example accountabilities include:

- Customer incentives

Designing and planning and delivering small incentive initiatives - leading on initial scoping, developing stakeholder presentation materials, building high level business case, process design, and driving multiple parties to ensure successful delivery (e.g. legal, sales, procurement etc). Ensuring that incentive progress reporting drives ongoing improvement

- Performance dashboards

Ensuring that demand or install performance dashboards delivered by team analysts are supporting quality decision-making, insight and performance management

- Reporting

Working with team analysts to ensure reporting is of a high quality, then actions and owners are identified and tracked, and that insight continues to develop

- Campaign and install design

Leading on aspects of the overall campaign design approach, and field force install roll out approach

- Continuous improvement

Leading on existing or planned processes, suggest and design improvements, planning and delivery of improvements

- Governance

Supporting senior project leads in their roles: development of presentation materials, facilitating workshops, carrying out analysis, updating plans, ensuring meetings are minute and actions complete

What do I need?

- No essential business knowledge required, but experience of working on regulatory projects, preferably in the energy sector, or on smart meter roll out programmes would be beneficial, but is not critical

- Working in a business project management environment: delivering projects/change

- Working knowledge of industry standard project methods, either waterfall project methodology or agile

- Stakeholder management skills

- Experience of managing small teams (directly or indirectly)

- Working in an analytical environment: developing reports and MI, carrying out analysis

- Working in a marketing or field force role

- Experience of working on regulatory projects, preferably in the energy sector, or on smart meter roll out programmes

- Must have good written, verbal and presentation skills, experience of MS Office suite including Power Point and Excel

- Assertive and capable of working flexibly
