About the Department
Transmission operates under licence as Scottish Hydro Electric (SHE) Transmission plc, responsible for the transmission of electricity in the north of Scotland. We own and maintain the 132kV, 275kV and 400kV electricity transmission network in our licence area. Our network comprises of underground cables, overhead wooden poles, steel towers and electricity substations, and it extends over a quarter of the UK land mass across some of its most challenging terrain.
What is the Role?
The site is in the Angus area and is primarily concerning civils works, electrical installation and commissioning within a live 132/275kV substation.
Based on site, you'll report to the Project Manager and work closely with the appointed contractor and our Operations team to ensure the works are delivered in accordance with the project programme, in a safe and environmentally responsible manner. You will provide guidance to the contractor when required and raise issues to the Project Manager as appropriate. You'll review contractor plans and method statements for example OHS, EMP, Quality Plan, etc. and make a key contribution to implementation of Safe Management of Work processes; leading by example at all times, promoting health and safety on site. You'll oversee inspections of work undertaken by the contractor and notify any compliance issues. You'll also undertake audits of the Contractor's working methods and quality management systems and input as required to project management issues including risk management, value management and community engagement.
What do I need?
To be successful in this role you'll have a formal site supervision qualification and experience of construction and commissioning within a Transmission substation environment. Experience of civil construction supervision is also desirable.
You should have experience in working with the NEC form of large value construction contracts and experience of working with a Contractor team to drive construction activities to time and budget.
