As Shift Operations Technician, you'll be a key member of a shift team tasked with delivering the safe operation of the stations generating plant to a continuously high standard of performance, at optimum plant efficiency with maximum availability in order to achieve the stations business plan targets and objectives.
Some of your main accountabilities will include;
-Operating the control systems to achieve successful plant start up, shut down & testing.
-Monitoring plant locally to ensure that it is not in distress.
-Completing the shift rounds and reporting any issues / adverse trends.
-Ensuring that the station consumables are kept at a level which does not pose a risk to the Operation of the plant and re-ordering as required.
-Ensuring all defective equipment is effectively reported.
-Keeping an accurate record of plant status visible in the CCR.
-Acting as Incident Controller
-Housekeeping within the allotted shift team plant area and the central Control Room
-Provide feedback on Optimisation and ideas on plant improvement.
What skills and experience will you need?
Due to the nature of this role, we are looking for some specific skills and experience including;
-A qualification to a minimum of HNC level in a relevant engineering discipline showing a good technical understanding of steam & power systems.
-An understanding of the processes and systems necessary to operate and control power plant.
-The ability to operate the plant safely
-Knowledge of the Grid Code, SSOW & REMIT
-An understanding of alarm management (DCIS, MK6e, CEMS).
Good communication skills will be essential to ensure you can work across multidiscipline teams, as well as build and maintain relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders. It will also be essential that you are comfortable with, and capable of, working to tight deadlines.
