Our role is in harnessing the vast resource of renewable energy and transporting it safely and securely to homes and businesses across GB.

This role is an exciting opportunity to lead the development and implementation of the business strategy and policies that are essential to our ambition of delivering a network for net zero and be recognised as a global leading electricity transmission owner.

Key responsibilities include:

  2. Leadership of SSEN Transmissions strategic policy projects working with colleagues across the business to undertake policy development and effective advocacy to key external stakeholders including government, regulators, network users and consumers.
  3. Subject matter expertise on energy policy, incorporating market design, economic incentives, subsidy mechanisms and competitiveness of the energy market, being able to clearly translate how these impact upon electricity transmission.
  4. Advise our Board and Executive Committee on strategic policy, risks and opportunities, and report on outcomes.
  5. Establish strong relationships with key stakeholders across the field of energy policy, and be visible in representing SSEN Transmission in national events and forums.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

  1. A passion for the achievement of net zero targets and the strategic policies needed to achieve this.

  3. The ability to synthesise complex arguments, deploying rigour and analysis as required, and then be able to communicate these clearly and effectively to diverse audiences.
  4. Deep knowledge of the energy sector, the key stakeholders and policy landscape.
  5. Demonstrated ability to operate outwith your field of expertise, engaging with technical, financial and engineering specialists, to gather relevant information and develop strategy.
