What is the Role?

As a Senior IT Enterprise Architect at SSE you'll be responsible for driving value by analysing the business goals, and defining the optimum use of technology to achieve successful delivery of these goals. You'll use your proven ability to clearly communicate to business leaders up to Executive level.

You will define solution portfolios and roadmaps, managing the evolution of the architecture for your own domain and also the SSE-wide view.

As a strong leader and influencer, you'll analyse the business roadmap and define IS strategy for domain and you'll make recommendations of the appropriate application and technology required. This role will focus principally on the Digital and Enabling Technology domains and you will use your broader business and technology knowledge, working in a team of cross-domain architects, to provide relevant and timely guidance to your stakeholders.

You'll assist in programme planning as well as functioning as a Solution Architect within the pre-project phases.

Your Skills and Experience

As an experienced Senior Architect you'll demonstrate your extensive ability to work at senior/executive levels, and will have the ability to define the value provided from Information Technology in a way that is compelling for your audience. Your pragmatic approach will mean you have the ability to balance long term and short-term proposals.

You'll have significant experience in developing architecture roadmaps and driving delivery against these roadmaps. You will already be familiar with applying architecture frameworks and related development methods such as TOGAF. Your technology skills will be based on proven delivery of the modern digital workplace experience, enabled by Office 365, collaboration and other enabling technologies. You will also have strong knowledge of technologies which support the end-to-end connectivity of devices to IT services. Finally, a good understanding of technology trends, leading vendor propositions and digital transformation opportunities will be a distinct advantage.

Previous experience in Enterprise Architecture and your proven ability to deliver EA value to senior stakeholders in organisations is essential; however, it will be your drive as an IT professional and your desire to make a positive contribution to the future of SSE, which will help ensure your success in this role.
