About the Department
SSE Enterprise Utilities is the Distributed Energy (DE) and Private Networks business of SSE plc. We finance, own, operate and maintain energy infrastructure for commercial, industrial and residential customers - providing them with a market leading project development service and certainty of operational performance and asset management.
What is the Role?
This is a key role as you will be fully responsible for managing bids under your control, from qualification through to submission. This will involve planning, managing, coordinating, preparing and submitting the bids assigned to you, whilst adhering to all Bid Management processes and Governance requirements.
You will also be expected to identify and implement innovative and effective business improvements that increase our win chances and have the initiative and readiness to make effective decisions.
What do I need?
Significant previous experience in best practice bid management is vital, including experience of bid planning; content planning based on hot buttons and win themes; corporate governance, colour reviews; and the production and submission of compelling submissions that are priced-to-win.
As such, you must have a demonstrable track record in winning new business, ideally within the energy sector, as well as extensive experience of complex and high value tenders.
A significant proportion of the team's work is bidding for public sector contracts, so experience of public sector bidding is advantageous.
You will possess demonstrable leadership skills to drive the work of collaborative virtual teams in planning, designing, producing and submitting high quality tender responses.
You should be highly confident in the use of Microsoft Office, have demonstrable writing skills and the experience of generating compelling proposal content.
Strong partnership values, assertive and persuasive interpersonal skills and the ability to quickly build a rapport with senior colleagues across functions are important in this role.
As an individual you will be a motivated self-starter with a positive attitude to overcoming obstacles to solve cross-business challenges.
You should be organised with excellent time management skills, a confident communicator with enhanced active listening skills and have the ability and agility to work efficiently and effectively in multi-functional and multi-skilled teams.
In this role you will be expected to work to a flexible schedule to meet business deadlines. You should be willing to travel occasionally to meet business needs.
