What is the Role?

Youll be responsible for creating, owning, driving and managing the commercial processes and controls to allow Distributed Energy to continue to deliver commercially successful projects. Activities will include, but not be limited to; pre and post investment reviews through detailed financial models, managing and scrutinising key costs and revenues into the business in line with contracts agreed, as well as provide ongoing analysis to ensure feedback is continually fed into the future strategy. All of this is to be at the high standard expected from a leading brand.
This is a challenging exciting role which provides the rare opportunity of operational, financial and analytical experience and the opportunity to add considerable and quantifiable value to the business.
Your key responsibilities will also include:
- Control, manage and improve assets from a commercial perspective to ensure the business is making 'data-driven decisions by accurately collecting, managing and reporting the financials from within the business. This role is expected to improve the processes in place to improve efficiency and ensure alignment with the contractual agreements in place with customers and partners. This role will focus on existing assets as well as support continued growth in existing and new energy sectors
- Contribute to the delivery of the Distributed Energy's targeted budget, know where value lies in the portfolio and ensure this value is achieved through robust verification of all income and charges associated with existing customers and associated contracts. Ensuring clear and effective ownership of financial disputes, knowing when to escalate issues
- Demonstrate effective and robust controls providing support to Business Development Managers via the provision and control of data, documentation and commercial assumptions for new bids. Drive investment reviews utilising financial modelling skills to identify the current and future value of our assets
- Identifying and understanding SSE's contractual obligations with customers and clients, communicating said obligations across the business to ensure these are being met and ensuring accurate forecasting of future position, as well driving and implementing financial and contractual updates from end-to-end, where applicable
- Ensure timely implementation of process changes to enable Distributed Energy colleagues to reduce risk and capitalise on emerging market opportunities and fluctuating market conditions, protecting financial positions
- Grow and develop strong relationships with internal stakeholders and customer (where necessary), and by taking ownership of issues, ensure they are identified and resolved as effectively and efficiently as possible, making informed decisions in a timely manner, escalating when necessary

What do I need?
To be considered for this role, we'd love you to have:

- Strong understanding of the utilities industry, gained in a commercial environment
- Excellent business acumen, commercial awareness and attention to the finer details, with a drive to continually improve and optimise business performance
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft applications, with experience of owning complex financial models
- Ability to interpret contractual documentation, assessing wider implications, scoping & implementing the practical applications
- Strong communication skills with an analytical approach to working practices
