About the Department
Operations are responsible for keeping the lights on; we are at the front line on the Network. If we find a fault, it is our responsibility to respond to the fault, and dispatch our skilled teams to fix it as quickly as possible. We work in all hours, and through all weathers, ensuring our customers are never without power.
What is the Role?
Working closely with other Project Managers within the team, you'll work to develop project requirements into control system solutions which can be deployed within our Transmission network. You'll be responsible for all aspects of design, liaison, procurement, project management and system commissioning, allowing you a unique opportunity to view the full project life cycle.
During the design phase, you'll identify where any new project specific design is required, or if the project requirements will fall into an existing standard design solution. You'll work with internal stakeholders, such as other business units, engineering departments, project managers and designers to determine project scope and detailed requirements. You'll then further develop the project by agreeing the design deliverables and the delivery programme.
This is a great opportunity for you to join the team and learn about our business from the front line, implementing systems which will benefit our business, and ultimately our customers.
What do I need?
To be considered for this role, we ask that you have excellent project management skills, with an ability to negotiate and agree project scope, costs and expectations to ensure all RTS works and interfaces are managed and implemented by the various teams and subcontractors. You'll be a strong communicator, able to manage your stakeholders and build effective working relationships.
You will be safety focused and have a working knowledge of the CDM regulations (is it still CDM??). You should have a minimum of an HNC qualification in an electrical or telecommunications-based discipline; alternatively, suitable experience in a similar role may be considered. You will also have a strong background in the design and implementation of substation Control & SCADA systems utilising DNP3. Experience with the application of IEC 61850 would also be advantageous.
A full, current driving licence is required for this role.
Please be aware if you are successful, you'll be required to complete our pre-employment screening process before joining SSE.
