About the Department
Operations are responsible for keeping the lights on; we are at the front line on the Network. If we find a fault, it is our responsibility to respond to the fault, and dispatch our skilled teams to fix it as quickly as possible. We work in all hours, and through all weathers, ensuring our customers are never without power.
What is the Role?
As a Contractor Safety and Performance Programmer, you'd be responsible for the information management of contract labour in our tree cutting department, ensuring that external teams are correctly onboarded to deliver immediate value. To do this you'll organise multiple aspects to enable them to do their job safely, this includes their authorisations, IT, internal courses, Company equipment.
Statutory compliance in this function is vital; the role requires excellent record keeping and accurate data administration through our third-party service provider system. Frequent problem-solving is needed to keep the systems up-to-date in the fast-paced working environment.
An integral part of the role is understanding and experiencing work in the field. You'll need to effectively engage project teams through regular site visits. You'll monitor SHE performance, sharing lessons learnt from incident investigations. Strong internal and external stakeholder management will be required to capture all business requirements in the programme by collaborating with senior management in large contracting firms.
Finally, as safety is paramount, you'll also be responsible for planning and organising engagement days over the function. In addition, you'll work with to produce and distribute all communications to contractors.
What Do I Need?
To be successful, you'll have experience working with safety management systems, policies and strategies within an operational delivery environment. Furthermore, you'll be fully conversant with current UK safety legislation that impacts the Networks business and the wider industry.
You'll have experience managing and delivering projects on time and within budget to an excellent standard while effectively managing risk and identifying opportunities.
You'll also have a working knowledge of how contractor organisations functions and experience with training and development. You'll be numerically literate with data analysis and trend identifications skills and have experience working with sensitive information governed by GDPR. Excellent IT skills with knowledge of IT packages for users would also be beneficial.
Finally, you'll be commercially astute with good business acumen, understanding the commercial impact of decisions. With excellent communication skills and a challenge mentality you should be willing to drive change and value through processes improvement and making more efficient use of contractors.
