Join ExxonMobil as a Risk Control Analyst. Become part of a team responsible for monitoring and managing the risk associated with ExxonMobil’s crude and product trading activities. You will provide risk control analysis for global and regional activities sitting alongside commercial traders and advising daily on risk positions, value and potential exposure. This role will provide insight into commercial trading, exposure to ExxonMobil managers and an excellent entry point to a career with ExxonMobil.


Primary job functions

  • Execute daily risk control processes and risk reports; working alongside trading to manage market and operational risk
  • Ensure daily data integrity, validate positions, and reconcile data inconsistencies with responsible traders
  • Develop and maintain forward curves and support resolution of disagreements over applicable prices
  • Advise on the financial impact and risk exposure of new strategies, activities or transactions
  • Ensure exchange (ICE, CME, Baltic) and regulatory (MFID, EMIR, Dodd Franck) compliance
  • Maintain general knowledge, expertise and awareness in the energy trading risk management area


The successful candidate will work with a team of analysts who support the traders.  The team comprises of  2-3  analyst supporting 10 traders




Candidate Requirements


To be eligible for this role, you must:

  • Hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics or other quantitative field. An advanced degree, such as a Master's, MBA, CFA, or Ph.D., degree in Energy or Financial Risk Management is preferred. 
  • Have experience in in energy trading, financial or energy risk management (5 years as a guide). Candidates with less than five years’ experience, but who have a high degree of relevant industry experience will also be considered.
  • Successful candidates should possess a broad range of personal effectiveness and leadership skills, with the ability to facilitate and influence business decisions in a team environment.

Preferred Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

  • Attention to detail with a strong process execution focus
  • Strong analytical skills and knowledge of financial instruments
  • Strong understanding of decision analysis techniques, statistical modelling and comfort in modelling issues involving risk and uncertainty
  • Strong understanding of financial analysis and application to energy transacting
