About the Department

SSE Human Resources is made up of several operational and specialist teams who strive to help the business to design, develop and deliver their people strategies. We partner with the business to provide expert advice on all people matters, enabling them to get the best out of their teams and equip them to meet the changing demands of our business now, and in the future.

The Resourcing Team manages SSE's recruitment in the UK and Ireland which includes everything up to Executive Committee level and covers specialist roles, volume campaigns and our early careers programmes. We work collaboratively with the business to help fulfil their recruitment requirements with the best talent in the timeliest and most cost-effective way, whilst at the same time ensuring a first-class candidate experience.

The Role

In this role, you'll be responsible for managing the team of Resourcing Consultants supporting both our SSEN Distribution and Thermal businesses.

Working collaboratively with the businesses, you will be responsible throughout the whole recruitment process, providing advice and expertise to both your team and the businesses. Working closely with key business managers and the HR Business Partners, you will develop strategic resourcing solutions to help us attract high quality talent to our roles. In addition, you will provide insight and management information to the business, identifying and addressing trends where necessary.

Our SSEN teams are at the front line of our Network and work in all weathers to ensure our customers are never without power. Working collaboratively with the business, you'll help them define and hire both technical engineering and operational roles: from Tree Cutters to Subsea Engineers; from Cable Jointers to Network Designers.

This role will also support our Thermal business, where our vision is to become the leading generator of flexible thermal energy in a low-carbon world. We currently own and operate five of the most flexible and efficient gas-fired power stations in the UK and Ireland. We operate as true resourcing partners; therefore you'll need to use your credibility and experience to develop close relationships with key stakeholders ensuring they are engaged and involved in their recruitment activity, end-to-end.

Regardless of the role type, you'll be responsible for ensuring the teams maintain a high level of Hiring Manager and Candidate satisfaction, ensuring that all parties benefit from a fair, transparent and inclusive recruitment experience.

What do I need?

We have a great team and are looking to add to it with positive team players, who set high personal standards whilst working collaboratively and flexibly at all times. It is essential that you have recruitment experience, and a background within in-house, RPO and/or more technical recruiting would be preferable. Additionally, you will be an experienced people manager, able to lead and manage a team of recruitment professionals by supporting and empowering them to deliver the recruitment plans for a designated business area. You'll be accountable for building a strong team through leading by example, and undertaking key management activities such as coaching, development and performance management.

As well as a good level of experience, you will have excellent communication skills and be able to cope with a demanding workload by prioritising effectively and remaining good-humoured. You will be able to flex your style according to the level of role being recruited, the requirements of the business and your workload. You will be equally comfortable managing a caseload of senior or complex vacancies or partnering business leaders to help them develop their recruitment strategy. Most importantly, you will take pride in your achievements and the level of service you provide, including your performance against key performance indicators.
