About the Department

At Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN), our skilled teams operate and maintain our electricity distribution and transmission networks, carrying electricity to over 3.7 million homes across the north of the Central Belt of Scotland and Central Southern England.

Operations are responsible for keeping the lights on; we are at the front line on the Network. If we find a fault, it is our responsibility to respond to the fault, and dispatch our skilled teams to fix it as quickly as possible. We work in all hours, and through all weathers, ensuring our customers are never without power.

What is the Role?

In this role you'll be a key member of our Distribution Supply Chain Team, working closely with Networks Operations. You'll pick and deliver stock for operatives as well as conducting audits in line with standards and Company policies and procedures. You will have responsibility for financial control and be able to report on project costs.

You'll maintain safe working practices in respect of manual handling and you'll make day to day decisions regarding the efficient, effective operation of Distribution stores. Furthermore, you'll track assets and cover FM duties where necessary.

What do I need?

You will be required to display a good understanding of the Distribution business. You should have experience controlling and managing stock levels and have a good understanding of stock control principles and Supply Chain Management. Experience working in a similar role within the distribution business with knowledge of industry specific materials and resource is preferred. This role will be IT driven so a sound knowledge and proven use of all Microsoft Packages is essential.

You should have the ability to work on your own initiative or as part of a team, reporting and raising risks or challenges to managers where necessary. Excellent communication skills and an ability to build effective working relationships will be paramount.

This is a busy role. Therefore, it is important that you have the ability to prioritise and coordinate tasks to meet deadlines with minimal supervision. We are looking for individuals with enthusiasm and drive with a flexible approach to work and an ability to adapt to changing business and project priorities.
