At SSEN Transmission we are building a network for net zero. We expect more than a threefold increase in generation from the current levels to 30GW by 2030 and more beyond that.

We have several fantastic opportunities for Regulation Managers within SSEN Transmission's Regulation Team who will be at the forefront of helping implement our equally ambitious £9bn Accelerated Strategic Transmission Investment (ASTI) Plan and our £2bn+ RIIO-T2 Business Plan through the fast-changing energy environment, as we race to net zero. At the same time, our managers will help shape the next RIIO price control - RIIO-T3 which will commence in 2026. RIIO stands for "Revenue = Incentives + Innovation + Outputs" and is the framework applied by Ofgem, the industry regulator, to ensure monopoly networks like SSEN Transmission provide a safe and reliable network in a sustainable way at a fair price for consumers.

The Key Responsibilities of a Regulation Manager include:

- Securing necessary investment under the ASTI framework from Ofgem to allow us to deliver our, and our stakeholders, strategic ambitions.

- Progressing RIIO-T2 regulatory uncertainty mechanism applications to Ofgem, working with subject matter experts to demonstrate the need and secure the investment during the RIIO-2 price control.

- Developing, through thorough research and analysis, regulatory policy across several critical workstreams whilst successfully advocating for our strategic goals across each of these key areas, including the future arrangements for the RIIO-T3 price control, arrangements for development of the onshore and offshore transmission network, onshore competition, and energy system governance.

- Managing and co-ordinating regulatory projects to a timely and successful outcome. Your ability to provide regulatory support across our business and the wider SSE Group while also line managing those in your team will be key to your success.

- Building and maintaining effective working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, in particular Ofgem, influencing the external regulatory environment through regular communication and engagement, responding to industry consultations and other submissions and representing SSEN Transmission at industry forums.

In meeting your responsibilities, you will be given unyielding support from your colleagues in the Regulation Team as well as wider from your wider SSEN Transmission colleagues.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

- A passion for the delivery of net zero targets and delivering outcomes in a sustainable way.

- Experience in utility regulation and ideally you should be qualified to degree level in one of the following disciplines: Economics, Business, Science, Engineering or Law.

- Knowledge of the regulatory framework in GB energy and of the energy sector; the key stakeholders and the policy landscape, and ideally, the impact of broader political and policy development on a regulated company;

- Demonstrated ability to operate outside your area of expertise, engaging with subject matter experts to gather relevant information to develop investment cases, inform policy or develop strategy; and

- Experience in leading expert teams during bespoke projects and ideally line management experience.
