About the Department
SSE Enterprise Contracting is one of the UK's largest Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) contractors with a product/service portfolio ranging from M&E LV, HV, Instrumentation, Street Lighting, Facilities Management through to Combined Heat and Power solutions.
What is the Role?
We are currently looking to fill a temporary SHE Advisor role, to cover maternity leave in the East Region of our Enterprise Contracting Operations team.
You'll be working within our Safety Health and Environment (SHE) Team providing proactive and pragmatic SHE advice and guidance, from the initial project development phase through to construction and handover, across or East Region which includes Cambridgeshire, Essex and Kent. Supporting our Operational business, you'll cover M&E works, HV, Street Lighting and the Lighting PFI's in the area and offer SHE support and advice, while also monitoring SHE performance at a Regional level. You'll report to operational management on good performance / best practice as well as deficiencies and areas of weakness identified. You'll also be required to provide key support with regards to the development and implementation of improvement actions, initiatives and plans.
What Do I Need?
To be successful in the role you'll have a NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent as a minimum and it would be desirable if you were a member of IOSH or IEMA. You'll also capable of using the Microsoft Office software suit (word, excel etc.) and can interact with company systems.
As well as this, you'll be an analytical and methodical individual with a professional attitude to your work, have excellent people management skills and be a team player who can build and develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
A full UK driving licence is vital for this role as well as a passion for safety and the ability to work well in a team as well as independently.
