About the Department

SSE Power Distribution, part of the SSE group, owns and operates two electricity distribution networks and one transmission network, comprising some 123,000 substations and 127,000km of overhead lines and underground cables, distributing electricity to 3.5 million homes and businesses in the North of Scotland and Southern England.

The Rechargeable Debt Team sit within the wider Operational Support Team offering services to the wider distribution business. The department is ever changing in order to deliver the needs of our customers; one of the requirements of the role is the ability to adapt to a fast moving and ever evolving team with enthusiasm and a positive approach.

What is the Role?

We have an opportunity for an experienced customer service advisor to join our Cable Damage Rechargeable Debt department. This team play a key role in recovering debt from third party damages to our network, specifically to each of our 4 regions covering central southern England.

This is a busy role therefore it is important that you can prioritise and coordinate tasks to meet deadlines and switch between work streams as required. The role will be varied from answering customer queries to invoicing third party companies who have caused damage to our network. Customers often have questions after receiving an invoice, you should be resilient with the ability to stay calm even when working under pressure. Finding solutions to complex customer and operational problems whilst adhering to industry processes and regulations is also paramount. During times of bad weather, you'll be required to give support through your storm role, this may mean working outside of your normal hours, duties and potentially location.

- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal

- Strong analytical skills

- Ability to work under pressure and as part of a team in a regulated environment

- Ability to problem solve and manage your own time

- Understanding of the Networks business area

- A willingness to go above and beyond to get the job done

- Proficient Microsoft Office 365 skills

- The ability to scrutinise data and reports

- A full UK driving license is desirable but not essential
