SSE Enterprise Contracting is one of the UK's largest Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) contractors with a product/service portfolio ranging from M&E LV, HV, Instrumentation, Street Lighting and Facilities Management.
What is the Role?
In this role, you'll be supporting the Regional Commercial Manager to manage a complex and large-scale upgrade, in order to maintain and maximise profitability. You'll also provide support to regional stakeholders on general commercial matters in order to reduce risk across the business. Other responsibilities include mitigating risks, contract administration and ensuring the internal cost reports of projects are accurate.
In addition, you'll also drive improvement in the accuracy and robustness of forecasts and budgets, supported by improved implementations of contracts. This will also allow the control of how we manage contractors, provide sound commercial knowledge, support all internal stakeholders and maintain good client relationships within the business and the commercial team.
What Do I Need?
To be successful in this role, you'll be degree qualified (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying with previous experience in a similar role, ideally within a street lighting, construction or engineering environment. You'll also have a comprehensive commercial understanding of contract price build-ups and proven experience in managing contractual relationships between clients, customers and contractors. Finally, you'll have the ability to read and understand contract clauses and documents and be adept at communicating these to all levels within the business.
You'll be an effective communicator with excellent negotiation skills and be flexible and pragmatic. You should also be able to identify and suggest innovative and effective business improvements.
As this role requires an element of occasional travel, a full UK driving licence is essential in this role.
