About the Department
Operations are responsible for keeping the lights on; we are at the front line on the Network. If we find a fault, it is our responsibility to respond to the fault, and dispatch our skilled teams to fix it as quickly as possible. We work in all hours, and through all weathers, ensuring our customers are never without power.
The Major projects team are responsible for the design and execution of all large projects associated with the electricity network in the south of England. Projects include the refurbishment and replacement of switchgear, transformers, overhead lines and underground cables.
What is the Role?
We are looking for an enthusiastic Project Manager to join our team in Portsmouth to manage a portfolio with a value £12m and up to 200 projects per annum. In this position, you'll be tracking the portfolio from design through to delivery with responsibility for programme, risk mitigation and portfolio management.
You'll also have the responsibility for submitting statutory notices to the Highway Authorities along with co-ordinating and maintaining the programmes with our contract partners. This will range from close liaising with various contract partners daily to ensure a smooth transition from one project to another across multiple sites.
What do I need?
To be successful in this role you'll be fully proficient in Portfolio Management with advanced knowledge in Planning, scheduling and budgeting. You'll have plenty of experience using Microsoft Project, Excel and other Microsoft applications. Ideally, you'll also have a working knowledge of Project Management (Prince 2) and Primavera (P6).
You'll have experience of working with linesmen, cable laying, jointing and electrical contractors to ensure programme efficiencies are maximised. We will also be looking for you to be demonstrate that you can hold engaging conversations with all internal and external stakeholders, as you'll also be required to complete formal presentations.
A full driving licence is also essential.
