SSEN Distribution are currently seeking a Project Manager to lead and manage the construction phase of connections projects. Supporting, and influencing, pre construction phases of design from acceptance to handover for Construction.

As a Project Manager for Major Project you will drive the construction phases through contract placement and financial approvals as required. Ensuring the projects align to SSEN Governance models and all interested stakeholder are engaged and working towards a common goal of on time, to budget and providing exceptional customer service.

Key Accountabilities:

- Taking a lead role in SHE activities to ensure that colleagues and Contractors are performing their duties with no risk to themselves or others. Examples include organising and chairing meetings, performing safety audits and visits, reviewing risk assessments and method statements investigating incidents, undertaking lessons learnt and promoting safety initiatives.

- Manage project within budget in accordance with internal governance procedures.

- To perform the role of Client representative as defined in the CDM regulations 2015.

- Manage individual contracts - NEC or similar, to include the management of variations/compensation events with support from commercial team; Input to the tender evaluation process when in design stage to ensure the project costings are realistic for effective delivery.

- Respond to emergency events including severe weather as required, ensuring availability to respond as appropriate.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

- Experience in Client duties under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 as well as other statutory legislation, regulatory and licence requirements.

- Knowledge and understanding of the operation, and management, of an NEC3 contract and the various interaction with the delivery partners.

- Sound business and technical knowledge of how a Distribution Network Operator (DNO) business or similar market.

- Strong knowledge of the connections operating practices and the requirements of the processes applicable to the connections business.

- An understanding of developing and managing integrated project programmes. Experience of the tendering processes for the engagement and management of suppliers including multi-disciplinary contracts.
