About the Department
SSE is Ireland's second largest energy utility and the leading developer and investor in cleaner energy infrastructure. SSE owns and operates over 2,000MW of generation capacity on the island of Ireland, of which 718MW is from renewable sources. Sitting within our Wholesale business, SSE Airtricity supplies greener electricity, natural gas and essential services to over 770,000 homes and businesses. Since 2008, SSE has directly invested over £2bn in growing its Ireland energy business including investment in large-scale, cleaner energy infrastructure. As a result of that investment SSE has contributed over €5bn to Irish Gross Domestic Product (GDP) since 2010, demonstrating the scale of economic activity that SSE's operations support across Ireland.
What is the Role?
You'll project manage large Electrical/Civil projects in the Dublin area, ensuring that the activities of the projects are planned, assigned and costed in line with projected budget and timelines provided.
You'll be involved in the Contract and Project Management of multiple Electrical/Civil and specialist sub-contractor teams undertaking construction of street furniture and cabling installation projects, from conception to completion to ensure all safety, quality, technical and commercial requirements are met. This will include; engineering support to estimators and bid teams, design development, client management and development, SHE management, project planning and operational delivery, management of on-site teams and finally, contract, financial and cost management for the projects.
What Do I Need?
To be successful in this role, you'll have significant experience of managing a portfolio of projects ranging from €1m to €10m in an electrical contracting environment. You'll ideally have a Third level qualification equivalent in an electrical or civil discipline, although this is not essential if relevant experience can be demonstrated. We would also be looking for you to have; a working knowledge of Health & Safety Regulations, experience and knowledge in Contract management, an understanding of technical drawings and knowledge of general office applications.
You'll also have excellent project management and communication skills, as well as good client and customer relation skills with the ability to work in a team environment. You'll have experience of managing operational teams, achieving and setting targets, and be able to apply financial and budgetary controls to maximise profit returns. Finally, you'll be enthusiastic, innovative and open take on new challenges.
A full Irish driving licence is vital for this role as well as a passion for safety and the ability to work well in a team as well as independently.
