Job Role Summary

 

ExxonMobil is the world’s largest publicly-traded international oil and gas company, best known in the UK for its Esso and Mobil brands. The Esso Petroleum Midstream organisation in the UK is a 750 mile network of ExxonMobil owned pipeline and distribution terminals that provide fuels to our customers throughout the UK. We have five strategically positioned Terminal facilities and four Pipelines systems fed from Fawley Refinery in Hampshire. We are currently seeking qualified and experienced Project Engineers to join our Midstream Engineering team based at our Hythe site, near Southampton. 


Opportunities exist for Project Engineers with a range of skills and experience in delivering projects with an Instrument, Electrical, Civil, and/or Mechanical bias in the petrochemical industry. 
 

 

 

 

Job Role Responsibilities

 

The role will support our growing Capital Project portfolio across our UK Midstream network.

The key responsibilities are to:

  • Manage the project development process to ensure that practical, cost effective solutions are established at the outset.
  • Manage the front end engineering and early procurement activities to ensure the project scope and cost is optimised prior to full project appropriation (funding).
  • Lead the execution stage of the project, ensuring that the management of detailed engineering and procurement of equipment are consistent with the Project construction objectives of safety, quality, cost and schedule.
  • Coordinate with the operations organisation to ensure that the completion, handover and start-up of the facilities takes place efficiently and effectively.
     

 

 

 

Candidate Requirements

 

To be eligible for this role you must:

  • Hold either an engineering degree or a Higher National Diploma (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline (e.g. Chemical, Mechanical, Instrumentation, Electrical, Controls, Civils).
  • Be, or be working towards being, a Chartered Engineer in your discipline, as defined by the relevant Institution and Engineering Council (or equivalent).
  • Have relevant project engineering experience (five years+ as a guide), preferebably in the downstream petrochemical industry, in one or more of the following areas: project development; front end engineering and early procurement activities; project execution; and / or project completion and handover. Candidates with less than five years’ experience, but who have a high degree of relevant industry experience will also be considered.

Candidates should also have demonstrated work experience and / or knowledge of managing third party relationships and work delivery e.g. working with external engineering procurement companies. Successful candidates should possess a broad range of personal effectiveness and leadership skills, with the ability to facilitate and influence business decisions in a team environment.
