About the Department
Transmission operates under licence as Scottish Hydro Electric (SHE) Transmission plc, responsible for the transmission of electricity in the north of Scotland. We own and maintain the 132kV, 275kV and 400kV electricity transmission network in our licence area. Our network comprises of underground cables, overhead wooden poles, steel towers and electricity substations, and it extends over a quarter of the UK land mass across some of its most challenging terrain.
You'll lead a large strategic high value project of up to £700 million within Transmission with the aim of delivering safely, to time and budget in a consistent manner with effective financial, quality and risk management. Developing and maintaining strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, you'll engage effectively to ensure that there is consistency in the way we deliver projects across the portfolio and that senior management have sufficient visibility of the project to maintain confidence in delivery and resolution of issues.
You'll lead, manage and develop a large project team, ensuring that a strong, competent and capable team are in place and engaged and motivated to deliver.
Your Skills and Experience
Commercially focused with significant high value project/programme management expertise and understanding of major projects delivery, you'll demonstrate understanding and experience of financial planning for large capital projects. With a strong knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and practices, you should have experience of large project Joint Venture agreements and relationships.
You'll have experience of leading and motivating a team of multi-disciplined individuals, setting clear goals and objectives and measuring performance against them. With the ability to challenge project teams and key stakeholders to ensure robust project performance, you'll have strong communication and negotiation skills and be at ease working in high pressured environments. You should have the ability to step back from the detail and focus on the key issues required to ensure project delivery.
This role will involve travel and overnight stays to project sites across Scotland.
