About the Department

Our Procurement and Commercial team are responsible for helping the business to procure services and materials in a timely and cost-effective way. We work right across the SSE Group, ensuring our businesses gets the best possible service and value from our supplier network, as well as ensuring all service providers are compliant and continue to meet contractual obligations and business need.

What is the Role

As a Procurement & Commercial Manager in the Renewables Business, you will be expected to manage procurement and post contract commercial requirements relevant to your business area. You will demonstrate value leadership, customer service and innovation to support the vision in becoming a world class provider of Procurement and Commercial services and embed a consistent approach to reduce the total cost of ownership by achieving targets set in this regard.

You will work with a team of contract managers charged with ensuring the successful commercial delivery of projects and contracts (both pre and post contract) to achieve the strategic goals of the business whilst complying with Procurement and Commercial policies and procedures, achieving or exceeding departmental targets.

You will engage regularly with Category Managers and the Head of Procurement & Commercial Shared Services to ensure the wider function provides a co-ordinated, effective and efficient service to the business.

What do I need?

You will understand the markets, support contracts, regions, commodities and services the businesses require and support the development of project business cases, operational and commercial models and development of procurement strategies and incentives based on these to engage contractors who will deliver outcomes to meet the business needs.

You should also be:- MCIPS /MRICS/degree educated or have an equivalent direct entry to a recognised appropriate professional body and have previous experience in a similar role where you were responsible for procuring and managing contracts, managing suppliers and sub-contractors, and supplier vetting, development and management. It is essential that you are proficient in the use of P2P procurement related systems and have experience of managing change requirements within organisations.

Due to your previous experience in an operational multifaceted business you will have an understanding of supply chain concepts and how to improve them. Travel will be essential throughout the UK/Ireland. Demonstrable stakeholder engagement and managements skills are essential, as is the ability to influence, lead and resolve disputes and problem solve. You will have excellent communication and presentation skills, strong commercial acumen, and a continuous improvement mind set.
