SSE Thermal Engineering & Innovation Centre has an established service delivery to internal stakeholders. The Team provides Asset Integrity, Technical Assurance and Technical Authority roles across a broad range of Thermal and Gas Storage Sites balancing risk, cost and performance. The Team is centred in the Leeds Hub, with offices in Dublin, Glasgow and Perth, with travel expected throughout the UK and Ireland where the sites are located. Possible overseas travel may be required.
What is the Role?
The role is to support the three main activities:
- Asset Integrity through the corporate governance role and compliance with standards and legislation.
- Technical Assurance through delivering of the PSSR(2000) compliance and statutory outage works.
- Technical Authority for large capital thermal new build projects; the role will require key interaction with design, quality and construction activities..
What do I need?
The successful candidate will ideally be degree qualified in Metallurgy, Materials Science or Mechanical Engineering; or have an equivalent work-based background. The successful candidate will hold chartered registration with the Engineering Council or be working towards this within an appropriate Institute (or institution). Key skills for the role will be a working knowledge of the legislation and design codes, be familiar with current construction activities and/or have extensive knowledge of pressure systems statutory outages; from planning, site metallography and inspection, interpretation and reporting.
