About the Department
SSE Human Resources is made up of several operational and specialist teams who strive to help the business to design, develop and deliver their people strategies. What is the Role?
SSE's Pensions team manage three final salary pension schemes and as Pensions Administrator, you will be responsible for ensuring that the pension benefits of all scheme members (active, deferred, retired, or dependent) are accurately recorded, calculated and paid in accordance with the scheme rules and UK pensions regulations.
As a subject matter expert, you will explain the provisions and processes of the Company's pension schemes to existing and prospective members; providing support with Retirements, Transfer of Benefits to and from the schemes including divorce calculations and Death in Service as well as guidance on Retirement planning and the benefits of additional voluntary contributions.
You will support and assist where required in all aspects of service delivery and business support for internal and external audits, induction programmes and Trustee meetings. Additionally, your role will include involvement in annual projects such as Benefit Statements and assistance with the application of the Statutory Pension Increase across the final salary schemes.
What do I need?
With previous experience in a similar Pensions/Payroll/Financial position, you will have a working knowledge of the various trustee boards, how they are made up and each of their responsibilities. You will also have a strong awareness of HMRC statutory limits on Tax allowances as well as the limits for the build-up of Pension benefits.
A detailed knowledge of the legal and regulatory aspects of pensions administration is essential and you must have had previous exposure into the way schemes are funded including contribution rates, deficit repair contributions and how scheme assets are invested.
You will be organised and methodical with the ability to work to tight weekly and monthly deadlines. You will have experience of working with numbers and across multiple computer systems. You should be proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel and have a good working knowledge of Office 365.
Additionally, you should have a proven track record of providing great customer service.
