About the Department
Transmission operates under licence as Scottish Hydro Electric (SHE) Transmission plc, responsible for the transmission of electricity in the north of Scotland. We own and maintain the 132kV, 275kV and 400kV electricity transmission network in our licence area. Our network comprises of underground cables, overhead wooden poles, steel towers and electricity substations, and it extends over a quarter of the UK land mass across some of its most challenging terrain.
What is the Role?
You will provide technical OHL support across multiple projects. This will include, creating, developing scope specifications for new and existing OHL, routing, conductor samples etc. You will also be responsible for reviewing contractor/consultants detailed designs and witness FAT. You should be able to do routing and design of transmission lines using PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, and PLS -TOWER. You will support field teams to ensure quality of installations and you will evaluate tenders and scope and, procure and manage specialist services from consultants
What do I need?
You'll have a degree or HNC in an Engineering discipline or relevant experience in a similar role. You should demonstrate a good awareness of the technical functions in transmission along with an appreciation of legal and regulatory obligations and LCP governance and engineering processes. You will understand legislation and the implications for the Transmission network management for both Assets and Projects, including CDM and ESQCR. Knowledge of following overhead line activities is essential:
- Overhead line Plan and profile drawings
- Basic understanding on selection of various overhead line components
- Overhead Line Wire clearance, Tower and fittings drawings
A full current driving licence is required for this role.
