Operations Manager - Aerospace

On behalf of an established family Group of companies supplying precision machined graphite based products into the aerospace manufacturing sector, we are seeking a senior level Operations Manager who will be based at the manufacturing unit in Wednesbury, as well as cross-working across the Group.

With a focus on introducing change and taking this working centre forward in all areas, the role has a range of specific core responsibilities which will include:

  • Define and deliver a Manufacturing Improvement Strategy
  • Lead a tactical and cultural change programme within the manufacturing facility
  • Implement a performance management system across key business KPI's
  • Identify improvement projects focused around raising productivity and supply chain performance in order to deliver enhanced service levels to customers and reduce costs to the business.
  • Lead a multi-disciplinary production team including shop floor personnel.
  • Manage customer issues and maintain required levels of customer service throughout supply-chain.
  • Maintain required Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality performance throughout the production facility in accordance with the required company standards and customer requirements.

This position requires an existing senior level operations aware candidate who has detailed management experience from within the aerospace sector wherever possible. Operations are primarily focused on the manufacture of components used in the production of aero engines as well as other equipment applications.

Ideally, the successful candidate will be from a modern metallics manufacturing background and will have demonstrable success in the management of operational performance and implementation of 'change'. Knowledge of EDM manufacturing supported by grinding and milling is desirable.

Suitable candidates should be qualified wherever possible to degree level and above in a relevant subject. They should have a strong engineering, lean and process improvement awareness, supported by commercial and business finance acumen.

This is a highly strategic role and is therefore seeking experienced candidates with modern approaches to manufacturing, change and development of best practice and 'culture'.
