Due to continued growth, we are looking for experienced Project Managers to join our Strategic Investment Connections team based in our prestigious new premises in Reading, One Forbury Place, conveniently located in Reading town centre. This new location offers new flexibility in the way we work, and, this role can be carried out splitting time between the office and either your home or another Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks location.
As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for managing a range of projects in accordance with our investment management process. You will be responsible for all aspects of the project including safety, quality, cost and programme. You will be part of a project management team working closely with design engineers, field staff, contractors, customers, stakeholders, ICPs and IDNOs.
Your Skills and Experience
You will have previous experience of managing projects in a construction environment and ideally experience of managing electricity industry projects. An engineering qualification is preferred and a recognised qualification in Project Management would be advantageous.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are vital, and you will need to be comfortable engaging with stakeholders at all levels, both internal and external. You will be experienced in the Construction Design and Management Regulations and understand the duties of Client, Principal Designer and Principal Contractor. You will need to be experienced in contract management and ideally have experience of NEC contracts. You will also need to possess good problem-solving skills and have the ability to thrive under pressure.
At SSEN, our skilled teams operate and maintain our electricity distribution and transmission networks, carrying electricity to over 3.7 million homes across the north of the Central Belt of Scotland and Central Southern England.
The Strategic Investment team are responsible for the design and execution of all large projects associated with the electricity network in the south of England. Projects include the refurbishment and replacement of switchgear, transformers, overhead lines and underground cables. The team are also responsible for managing large new customer connections.
