SSE currently have one of the largest development pipelines for Offshore Wind in both the UK and Ireland.
What is the Role
Due to the continued growth of our SSE Renewables business, we are currently seeking Naval Architect Engineers and Lead Package Naval Architect Engineers with knowledge and experience in the development and execution of large scale Offshore engineering projects.
This role will support the SSE Renewables businesses by delivering engineering expertise and assisting the Design Authority process to achieve project objectives, supporting value engineering in design development, commercial contracting, and execution of engineering solutions for our offshore wind farms.

What do I need?
To be successful in this role, you should be a chartered Naval Architect/Engineer or have a very clear path to becoming chartered.
You'll need demonstrable technical knowledge and experience within Naval Architecture / Marine Engineering with a detailed understanding of offshore design processes, transportation and installation techniques.
A background working in large scale projects is preferable, and you must be comfortable making engineering-based decisions with significant impact on engineering risk. Strong commercial acumen and a firm grasp of the context and implications of engineering activities and decisions will be necessary.
Due to the nature of these roles, we are also look for individuals who have skills in the following;
-Experience in the design and decision-making process for large scale projects involving international multi-disciplinary teams.
-Ability to influence staff effectively, both within the project team and through an engineering matrix management structure.
-Ability to manage and drive efficiencies in high pressure situations.
- Offshore marine engineering and construction management experience
-Knowledge and experience of relevant legislation and industry good practice
-High organisation capabilities to deliver quality work to the agreed timescales.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills will be essential, as is an innovative mind set, a flexible approach and the capacity to deliver high quality work on a consistent basis in a demanding environment.
Although office based you will be required to travel as and when is required by the work being undertaken including potentially periods offshore.
