SSE Enterprise comprises three companies: Contracting, Telecoms and Distributed Energy. SSE Enterprise Utilities is part of the Distributed Energy business of SSE plc. Distributed Energy offers a full range of services which contribute to the development of smart cities and smart places, in both public and private sectors. We finance, own, operate and maintain a broad portfolio, from electrical vehicle (EV) infrastructure, to distributed energy systems including renewable and low-carbon generation, energy storage and heat networks as well as building owning and adopting private HV networks. SSE Enterprise Utilities is the Distributed Energy and Private Networks business of SSE plc. We finance, own, operate and maintain energy infrastructure for commercial, industrial and residential customers - providing them with a market leading project development service and certainty of operational performance and asset management.
What is the Role?
SSE Enterprise Utilities has an excellent opportunity for the role of Multi Utility Estimator. This role will lead on all cost estimation activity work within our Commercial team, supporting the pre-contract and bidding process for new work on Multi Utility developments. The role will also support with the monitoring and explaining of cost movements post-contract.
Working alongside the Business Development, Engineering and Operations teams, you will ensure all costs associated with building out electricity and gas networks are correctly identified and accounted for.
You will interpret designs, construction rates and material costs to produce costings which ensure that our bids remain competitive against the marketplace. You will have responsibility for developing and running our cost estimation tools.
You will assist with preparation of interim and final valuations, the management and valuation of variations, and general commercial support as required.
What do I need?
To be considered, you will be educated to HNC/D level or equivalent in an Engineering, Construction or QS discipline, or have several years experience working in a similar role within the utilities industry
You will be methodical and organised, as well as being comfortable working as part of a team or under your own initiative. Due to the nature of the project requirements, you will enjoy working in a solutions, target and deadline driven environment.
You will have excellent numerical and financial acumen and a curiosity and capacity to understand financial, commercial and project issues.
Additionally, you will be a confident and clear communicator with strong presentation skills and the ability to communicate with different audiences and levels, tailoring the communication to suite the situation.
