What is the Role
The Meter Inspections Team is responsible for identifying, investigating and working with customers and property owners to resolve issues preventing access to gas meters located at customers properties. This team works closely with the Meter Reading Team in attempting to reduce and prevent Long Term No Access (LTNA) properties, where repeated non-access preventing us reading and inspecting meters could lead to compliance issues. The Meter Inspections Team also works closely with all departments within the gas business to obtain accurate and up to date information meter reads and to reduce risk associated with LTNA. Another key element of this role will be to support the business Revenue Protection function in identifying, investigating and preventing energy theft, raising and responding to queries with Gas Network companies and gas customers.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
-To analyze Meter Inspection reports on a monthly basis for purposes of updating property lists and to facilitate data validations, updates, reports and query resolutions.
-To carry out investigations on repeat no access properties to facilitate access by Meter Reading and drive down the number of no access properties.
-To ensure compliance with the CoP for Energy Theft by ensuring regular routine analysis and ad-hoc investigations to identify potential Revenue Protection issues are completed on at least a monthly basis or as required.
-Follow all industry and internal policies, procedures and Codes of Practice and ensure all regulatory obligations are met in relation to Revenue Protection and LTNA properties to identify risks, introduce pre-emptive measures and prevent bad debt and associated risks.
-To drive improvement in all areas related to Revenue Protection and LTNA in order to reduce risk & bad debt; detect & prevent energy theft and ensure appropriate communication, liaison and reporting is maintained inter-departmentally and externally with third parties.
-To ensure relevant KPIs are recorded accurately on a regular basis and along with delivering ad-hoc reporting, analysis and management information.
-Working closely and proactively with the Meter Reading team to ensure regulatory compliance with meter inspection obligations and in detecting, investigation and preventing energy theft.
-To ensure the routine and ad-hoc communication is issued to properties where access has not been possible.
-To ensure all preparatory activity and paperwork is in order to facilitate obtaining warrants to force entry to LTNA properties as a last resort, when all other avenues have been explored, and to attend court to secure warrants as required.
-To provide all preparatory work and the necessary paperwork and co-ordinate the required staff and third parties, including Networks, Meter Reading, Locksmiths and PSNI, as necessary, to ensure warrant visits are carried out successfully.
-To manage all after-visit follow up, communication and liaison with customers to facilitate new keys and recovery of all associated costs.
