This role will support the SSE Renewables businesses through acting as a focal point for the Design Authority process to achieve appropriate standards, legislation and ensure project and operations requirements and objectives are fulfilled. The role shall ensure value engineering and innovation are incorporated into the specifications and design of installed offshore wind turbines.

You will be responsible for establishing an appropriate package engineering team within a multi £billion offshore wind project, taking responsibility for delivery, wind turbine supplier engagement and providing technical leadership to the package. You will interpret project and key stakeholder objectives and requirements, identifying technology and design risks and implement appropriate mitigation measures in line with the project risk appetite. In particular, we are looking for individuals who have skills in the following;

-Experience in managing the design and decision-making process for large scale projects involving international multi-disciplinary teams.

-Experience of managing the interfaces and technical risks between the key stakeholders and design disciplines during specification, contract negotiation and delivery of the design for the wind turbine package i.e. electrical, control and instrumentation and operations.

-Experience of managing the interfaces across multiple project packages including key project decisions and design activities, such as the management of the wind turbine coupled analysis and certification process with the foundation and sub structure packages

-Experience of managing technical risk in design, particularly in a client role where a third party supplier must be managed to close out the risk to acceptable project levels through acceptance or mitigation.

-Experience of managing the communication and relationship with a third-party supplier to ensure sufficient information is collated when required, that relevant engagement is organised between experts to explore design and that the third party delivers on quality and contract.

-Experience of successfully negotiating technical contract exhibits with third party suppliers

-Understanding of the offshore wind turbine market, including wind turbine suppliers, technologies and known and historical issues relating to these offshore wind turbine models

-Experience of undertaking due diligence of wind turbine technology during a tender process and being responsible for proposing a preferred supplier to the project team.

-An in depth understanding of the implications of design on the efficient operation of assets is desirable

You will display excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You will possess an innovative mind set, have a flexible approach and have the capacity to deliver high quality work on a consistent basis in a demanding environment.
