SSE Enterprise Utilities is the Distributed Energy and Private Networks business of SSE plc. We finance, own, operate and maintain energy infrastructure for commercial, industrial and residential customers - providing them with a market leading project development service and certainty of operational performance and asset management.

What is the Role?

SSE Enterprise has created a new Independent Distribution Network Operator (IDNO) that will own, operate and maintain electricity distribution infrastructure across Great Britain. The IDNO is staffed by a core team with key services provided in the main by other SSE Enterprise entities.

The Design Engineer has a key role of reviewing and maintaining Design Standards and Construction procedures, which are utilised by the IDNO. The role holder will responsible for approving designs for adoptable networks, managing and approving deviations from standard designs

What do I need?

The successful candidate be commitment to Safety being at the heart of everything we do, should have knowledge of the Electricity Distribution industry, an understanding of the IDNO and ICP market and detailed knowledge of electrical distribution standards from LV through to 11kV.

On a day to day basis the role communicating with internal and external service providers, approving designs of future assets and ensuring the designs for Forbury Assets are innovative and compliant.

Knowledge of the Electricity Distribution industry with an understanding of the IDNO market

Understanding of interactions between ICPs, DNOs and IDNOs and knowledge of Designs at 11kV and LV.

Essential skills:

- Electrical engineering/design

- Electricity networks

- Previous Electricity Distribution Authorisations
