Due to continued growth, we are looking for a Lead Civil Engineer to join our Major Projects Engineering Design Team based in our prestigious new premises in Reading, One Forbury Place, conveniently located in Reading town centre.
The Major Projects Engineering Design team carry out the design work for capital asset replacement / reinforcement and new electricity connections. Our responsibility is to respond to challenging changes in our licence obligations, and growing levels of competition, with an annual budget in the region of £70M.
As the Lead Civil Engineer, you will be responsible for leading civil design consultants and Design Engineers, designing and managing the civil elements of projects from initial high-level scope, through detailed design and costing to a full pre-construction file. You will work as part of a team to develop these value engineered designs in a high quality, timely, cost effective, safe and efficient manner.
Your Skills and Experience
Youll have experience in design and specification of civil construction schemes, preferably sub-station schemes up to either 33kV or 132kV. A minimum HNC in a relevant subject is preferred, in addition to experience in this field with a DNO, ICP or a supplier to the industry. A knowledge of Project Management and MS Office methodology would be advantageous.
It is essential that all of our Design team are delivery focused, have good communication skills and previous experience in applying the Construction, Design and Management Regulations 2015 to technically complex projects. There will be a requirement to work to tight timescales and provide first class customer service at all stages of the project; therefore, the ability to thrive under pressure is essential. It is also important that you have an eye on long term development and are able to identify and implement innovative and effective business improvements.
