About the Department
Our Commercial and Connections teams are the first point of contact for customers wishing to have a new electricity connection, increase the size of their existing connection, install generation, or move the equipment supplying their property. Were here to help whether our customers are building a single home, housing development, industrial development, generation development or independent distribution network. Our responsibility is to respond to challenging changes in our licence obligations, growing levels of competition and play a key role in progression to a low carbon future.
What is the Role
As Lead Account Manager, you'll be responsible for an Account Management Team within the new connections business in SSEN who are accountable for the timely issuing of all Generation Quotations (over micro generation) and any Major Demand quotations (connected at or triggering works at EHV) within licence timeliness obligations. This also including managing any quote interactivity and the milestones they require to achieve during construction to ensure we maintain a fair and transparent connections queue. You team is accountable for the application of the distribution connections "gate" process across connections teams which we apply to all accepted projects over £100K in value to ensure project delivery is to time, budget and within customer expectation.
What do I need?
To be successful in this role, you'll have either existing detailed knowledge of or an evidenced track record showing the ability to be able to understand SSEN Commercial Contracts & Processes along with an awareness of our Connection agreements. You'll have wider knowledge and experience in dealing with key industry bodies as you will be engaging in external parties such as National Grid and the ENA and you will have experience in dealing with key customers such as major generation developers, house builders and local authorities. Negotiation and influencing experience is essential along with the ability to balance challenging timescales and prioritise appropriately.
