What is the Role?

The Environment & Stakeholder Team perform a key role within our Renewable Operations business in ensuring that all our environmental obligations are appropriately implemented and maintained.

As Environmental Advisor for our Hydro Generation fleet in the north of Scotland, you'll be responsible for ensuring that the maintenance and operation of our assets is undertaken in compliance with legal and licensing obligations in addition to industry and best practice standards.

A key element of this role will involve engagement with external stakeholders including district salmon fisheries boards, conservation agencies and landowners ensuring that the interests of the business are protected, and professional relationships are maintained and enhanced.

In addition, you'll provide guidance and advice to our operations, engineering, control room and programmes teams ensuring that environmental risks are identified and mitigated, and that appropriate business processes are followed. This will include undertaking environmental audits and assisting with the maintenance and development of our ISO 14001 accredited Environmental Management System (EMS).

What do I need?

To be successful in this role, you should be degree qualified in an environmental management or ecology related discipline and able to demonstrate extensive relevant experience in a similar discipline.

Due to the specialist nature of this role, were also looking for you to have the following;

- Experience and knowledge of inland fisheries management

- Knowledge of hydrology and catchment management

- Biodiversity project management experience

- Budgetary management experience

- Experience of ISO 14001 and internal auditing

- Experience in hydro generation is preferred but not essential.

- Excellent negotiation skills

- The ability to coordinate stakeholder groups, meetings and events.
