About the Department

SSE Enterprise Contracting is one of the UK's largest Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) contractors with a product/service portfolio ranging from M&E LV, HV, Instrumentation, Street Lighting, Facilities Management through to Combined Heat and Power solutions.

Our HV centre at Southampton is a small but profitable and highly-skilled HV technical resource, which supports the Bournemouth, Southampton, and Portsmouth contracting depots, contributing to the growth of our HV business throughout the Southern Region.

What is the Role?

In this role, you'll identify and develop sustainable HV business opportunities, focusing on new and existing HV contract customers. You'll also design, estimate, plan and manage the delivery of associated work contracts.

As well as this, you'll provide a consistent workflow and optimise the profit contribution to the business, ensuring all safety, quality, technical and commercial requirements are met.

What Do I Need?

To be successful in this role, you'll have a proven track record in design, construction, and the operation of electrical plant and equipment up to 33kV. You'll also have sound HV and LV electrical knowledge and will be familiar with all Suspension of Operational Practice, Dangerous Incident Notifications and National Defect Reports. We will be looking for candidates from an electrical background encompassing a range of contracting activities, who can demonstrate commercial acumen and enthusiasm to help grow our business.

You'll also be able to identify, design, quote and manage HV contracts and will be able to negotiate with clients to secure profitable business. You should also have the ability apply financial and budgetary controls to maximise profits, whilst managing quality, safety and the planning of the work. Finally, you'll also have a working knowledge of the CDM regulations, in addition to general office applications including MS Project. Previous SAP experience would be beneficial.

In addition, you will design, estimate, plan and manage the delivery of associated work contracts.
