What is the Role?
You'll report to the Lead Commissioning Engineer ensuring that projects are delivered safely onto the network in line with SSE's commissioning policy and procedures. You'll be responsible for ensuring that all commissioning requirements are considered and delivered at every stage of a project from inception through to final handover and operations. You'll analysis project layouts and designs, alongside other engineers, to establish the configuration which best meets project objectives to provide a timely delivery whilst maintaining security of the networks.
You'll also work with engineering teams to develop project build sequence diagrams, covering how projects will be delivered, identifying: key dates, outage requirements, interim running arrangements and interfaces with various HV Transmission and Distribution systems. You'll check that commissioning activities meet the needs of the network as well as customer obligations and participate in safety and design reviews to coordinate commissioning activities in the delivery of capital and revenue projects. You will also be expected to assist in project Commissioning Panels.
Above all you'll always practice and promote a positive safety culture which is our number one value at SSE.
What Do I Need?
To be successful in the role you'll be educated to HND (or HNC with appropriate experience) and have experience of working in a HV/EHV environment. You'll have a proven track record within the industry and experience of design, installation, operational and commissioning activities across HV/EHV voltages. You'll have the ability to deliver high quality work in a demanding project environment. You'll also be able to lead, coordinate and motivate project teams through Commissioning Panel meetings with stakeholders.
Finally, you'll have a working knowledge of the CDM regulations, in addition to general office applications including MS Project. You'll be committed to continuous improvement and be able to get excellent results through the team and others around you.
