About the Department
SSE Human Resources is made up of several operational and specialist teams who strive to help the business to design, develop and deliver their people strategies. What is the Role
We currently have an exciting opportunity for an HR Case Manager within our Employee Relations team. The Case Management team are responsible for, and involved in, a wide range of complex cases including: investigations, disciplinary, grievance, sickness absence, capability and whistleblowing. The work they carry out is high volume, varied and fast paced.
As an HR Case Manager, you will work autonomously using your technical expertise to advise Operations Managers and HR colleagues on all aspects of the case, particularly where there is a sense of dispute or disagreement. You will be expected to exercise good judgement and be able to identify when to escalate to the Employee Relations team on any potential legal and financial risks or damage to business reputation.
You will also manage the administrative support of cases from start to finish, including arranging meetings, supporting with letters, and maintaining the case log on a real-time basis to ensure accuracy and currency of information.
You will liaise with ACAS in connection with any Early Conciliation cases and liaise with our legal representation in connection with any Employment Tribunal claims.
Occasional travel will be required.
What do I need?
With a detailed understanding of employment and case law and of ACAS early conciliation and Employment Tribunal processes, you should have a thorough understanding of HR policy, procedure, practice and processes. You must have experience of managing cases and providing HR procedural guidance at sickness absence, grievance, disciplinary and performance management meetings. With the ability to work under pressure and deliver high volume, high quality work to demanding deadlines. A credible and confident decision maker, you will have strong influencing skills and the ability to adapt and deal with different people in difficult situations. You should be committed to providing high levels of customer service and be an innovative problem solver. You will be empathetic and resilient in a change environment.
