About the Department
SSE Enterprise comprises three companies: Contracting, Telecoms and Distributed Energy. SSE Enterprise Utilities is part of the Distributed Energy business of SSE plc. Distributed Energy offers a full range of services which contribute to the development of smart cities and smart places, in both public and private sectors. We finance, own, operate and maintain a broad portfolio, from electrical vehicle (EV) infrastructure, to distributed energy systems including renewable and low-carbon generation, energy storage and heat networks as well as building owning and adopting private HV networks. This involves providing customers with energy optimisation solutions through intelligent systems and offering platforms and connectivity to enable smart energy infrastructure and demand management services.
SSE Enterprise Utilities is the Distributed Energy and Private Networks business of SSE plc. We finance, own, operate and maintain energy infrastructure for commercial, industrial and residential customers - providing them with a market leading project development service and certainty of operational performance and asset management.
What is the Role?
Due to continued growth and diversification of our SSE Enterprise Utilities business, we are looking for a Head of Operations & Maintenance to join us in Reading. Within this role you will be responsible for the delivery of the complete range of operational and maintenance services for the network asset owners within SSE Enterprise Utilities. These services will include the implementation, management and execution of Operational & Maintenance, Emergency Cover, and Restoration Services in order to meet the asset owners regulatory requirements and providing essential cover to direct and vulnerable customers.
Within this role, you will also have commercial responsibilities for Bid & Pipeline support, providing Operational & Maintenance Service solutions delivery and costs to support major project bids in current and new sector areas. You will provide clarification of service level, performance and quality assurance requirements for all asset owners within the SSE Enterprise Utilities portfolio.
What do I need?
To be considered for the role you will ideally have extensive experience in an Operational role within the Utility Sector and a good understanding in Maintenance Service Delivery and Management with an in-depth knowledge of service delivery, any connected legislation, service scheduling, key performance management, customer service delivery and sub-contractor management. You will be an exceptional leader with the ability to recruit, manage and motivate a team.
You will have strong commercial & financial acumen, working with the Director of Operations in preparing and managing the annual budget for Operational & Maintenance and Emergency Response and Restoration Services. As well as this you will have the ability to plan, construct and execute business plans.
With a background in service delivery management, you will ensure that Operational & Maintenance services are defined, agreed and delivered against the service levels as required by the asset owners and customer service requirements.
